Unintended filesharing has again come in to the news with the Japan

Times report

on a security leak of the Chubu Electric Power Company.  Highly

sensitive information including personnel details were accidentally made

accessible on the internet after a 40 year old employee had started to

use P2P filesharing which was miss-configured.  There have been several

high profile cases including a report in 2004 that military data was

being leaked on P2P networks.

This should prompt us all to look at our networks and attempt to prevent

the use of P2P applications–it only takes one rouge user to seriously

breach security!
