In a recent blog post, I discussed a study that claims video games can actually improve your eyesight, but do gamers make better lovers? While that’s a great question, I have absolutely no idea what the correct answer is. What I do know, however, is that gamers make better surgeons. Check out this recent news story: “Gamers make better surgeons, study says.”
According to the article, “Out of 33 surgeons from Beth Israel Medical Center in New York that participated in the study, the nine doctors who had at some point played video games at least three hours per week made 37 percent fewer errors, performed 27 percent faster, and scored 42 percent better in the test of surgical skills than the 15 surgeons who had never played video games before.”
How many people do you know who would feel more comfortable under the knife of a gamer? It’s kind of unsettling if you think about it in jargon terms like “Game Over.”
Before parents get all excited about this study, please note that the article doesn’t condone excessive video gaming for adolescents, because playing video games won’t help kids get into medical school.
