Welcome to Classic Rock! This is TechRepublic's blog blog focusing on hardware and software from the 70's, 80's, 90's and today. But it's more than mere nostalgia. Find out what else we'll cover.
Whether it's Dinosaur Sightings in our Photos area or Discussions about old technology in the Forums, TechRepublic members have shown almost as strong an interest in old technology as well as they do the new stuff. That's where Classics Rock comes in. Classics Rock is TechRepublic's new blog focusing on hardware and software from the 70's, 80's, 90's and today.
Classics Rock will do more than just take a stroll down memory lane. We'll use this blog to show how you can still use older technology in business. Windows 2000, Windows NT, and to some extent even Windows 98 still have legs on them. That doesn't include all of those old applications that you still have laying around. Do you have to upgrade to Office 2007, or can you still get away with using Office 2000? We'll show you how you can continue to use these venerable operating systems and older applications to squeeze the last dollar of performance out of them before migrating to newer software. We'll also try to learn from history and see how computer trends from the past live on today.
So, return with us now to the thrilling days of yesteryear....
