Saturday, May 5th, is Free Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day A few years ago, the comic book industry decided to adopt a time-honored sales tactic from some of the most successful retailers on the planet: "The first hit is free." The result is Free Comic Book Day, an annual event wherein a select list of promotional comic books are available COMPLETELY FREE to anybody who shows up to a comic shop. No purchase necessary (though the stores hope you do actually buy something while you're in there). Well, FCBD is upon us this Saturday, and you can grab any of these fine funnybooks free of charge:
  • Amazing Spider-Man Swing Shift (Marvel Comics)
  • The Lone Ranger / New Battlestar Galactica Flip Book (Dynamite Entertainment)
  • Transformers the Movie Prequel #1 (IDW)
  • Legion of Super Heroes in the 31st Century (DC Comics, based on the new animated series)
  • Archie Comics Little Archie (Archie Comics)
  • Bongo’s Free for All (Bongo Comics, who print Simpsons and Futurama comics)
  • Umbrella Academy Zero Killer Pantheon City (Dark Horse Comics)
  • Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse (Gemstone Publishing)
  • Astounding Wolf-Man # 1 (Image Comics)
  • Tokyopop Choose Your Weapon (TOKYOPOP)
