Microsoft has released Windows Vista SP1 RC Preview as part of its private beta program.
Microsoft officials said the Vista SP1 RC Preview incorporates feedback from users that have been part of the beta program that began in September. The new features include changes to streamline setup and installation.
Microsoft has earlier said that Vista SP1 will include a number of bug fixes and performance enhancements but no new features.
At the moment, SP1 appears to be well-received, with testers reporting better laptop battery life, faster networking, and improved wake-up from standby and hibernation.
There's still no word on when the final release of SP1 will hit the streets. With the lackluster adoption of Windows Vista though, SP1 might just be the shot in the arm that Microsoft needs — and fast.
