Now, a Google Hacks utility to instantly search files

Last month, I wrote a piece on how Google can be used to search for files instantly. Now, there's a utility to do that and more!

There were a few issues with the manual steps, such as the inability to add the hack into Internet Explorer the way you could call it with a keyword in Mozillla Firefox. In addition, changing the options to search for different files needed more tweaking.

Thanks to Jason Stallings, there's a utility available now that provides a simple GUI that does the same searching for instant results. Here's a synopsis from the site:

Google Hacks is a compilation of carefully crafted Google searches that expose novel functionality from Google's search and map services. For example, you can use it to view a timeline of your search results, view a map, search for music, search for books, and perform many other specific kinds of searches. You can also use this program to use Google as a proxy.

Here's the link to download the Google Hacks utility, which is apparently hosted on Google's free code hosting site service.

Please do follow the advisory on the site. Happy Googling!
