After unveiling the U.S Federal IT Dashboard on Tuesday, U.S. CIO Vivek Kundra did an online chat with citizens to answer their questions about the dashboard as well as other topics that relate to the U.S. IT department. Macon Philips, the White House Director of New Media (I didn't know they had one of those), fielded the questions from the Web and then Kundra answered them in real time while this 30-minute video was filmed.
One of the most interesting things mentioned here was that IT departments in the various federal agenies used to report on their progress once a year, but now they are doing it once a month. That is one of the changes that the Obama administration had to implement in order to help drive the kind of transparency and accountability that this dashboard was designed to facilitate.
