Must-have Android apps, according to dcolbert

Since mobile apps are increasingly popular, TechRepublic asked some editors, contributor writers, and members what apps they prefer above the rest. In this particular post, Donovan Colbert (aka dcobert) highlights his favorite Android apps.

I've written quite a bit about my experience with the Android smartphone, including eight ways Google's Droid fails to impress. However, if you own or are considering purchasing an Android device, there are several apps I frequently use and highly recommend.

Check out the entire gallery: "Must-have Android apps, according to Donovan Colbert," for a comprehensive look of my favorite Android apps and lengthy descriptions of each.

Don't have time to browse through the gallery? Here's a quick look at the apps on my list:

  • Facebook
  • Foursquare
  • Games - Air Control Lite and The Great Land Grab
  • Google Voice
  • Music apps - Pandora, Shazam, iMusic, and DoubleTwist
  • PdaNet
  • Antennas
  • Bump
  • ES File Explorer
  • Evernote
  • WiFi Analyzer
  • White Noise Lite
  • Widgets - Weather Channel, Twitter
  • Twitter
  • SwiftKey Beta

So, there's my current list of favorite Android apps. I’ve got a ton more and will be revisiting this list as it evolves. Do you have an Android, iOS or other application that you think is indispensable? Let us hear about it in the discussion thread.
