Gartner released its annual top 10 strategic technologies for 2009. Virtualization takes the #1 spot, and cloud computing takes the #2 spot.
Gartner recently identified the Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2009, and virtualization captured the top prize. Last year, it was #5 on Gartner's list. We all know that server virtualization has been growing in leaps and bounds. I have not been to a client recently that does not have or is not currently implementing some type of server virtualization. Power and cooling costs have been driving this intitiative for quite some time. It is great that the virtualization space is really starting to get recognized.
Gartner goes on to say that storage and client virtualization are the next big trends to start picking up momentum, and I tend to agree. Virtualization has really been successful in the data center, and we are now beginning to see that virtualization has a place on the client side through application virtualization and desktop virtualization.
What do you think of the list?
