See how your TechRepublic peers answered this question: Is the tablet PC form factor a fad or a glimpse into the future?
On April 22, 2011, I asked the readers of the TechRepublic Microsoft Windows Blog this poll question:
In that original blog post I was wondering out loud about the appeal of the tablet form factor. In just about every instance where someone touts the benefits of a tablet I find myself thinking I already have a perfectly good device that does that already. For example, I would prefer a notebook for emailing and surfing, a big screen LCD for watching movies, a paperback book for reading, etc. I'm not against the tablet; I'm just not ready to jump in with both feet.
Looking at the poll results, I am not the only one sitting on the fence waiting for a reason to jump down and sing the praises of the tablet form factor. So the question still stands: what argument would you use to persuade someone to join the tablet-loving crowd? What makes the tablet important for the future of our technology-driven lives?
