Launching MS Office Apps independentl

By vishalchandna ·
I need to launch Excel and Word documents from the native
application and not within Internet Explorer.
However, if I link to an Excel or Word document from an
HTML page, Internet Explorer insists on opening a scaled-
down version of the application within the browser.
This is not a problem in Netscape because Netscape will
always open the full Excel or Word application.

What you're looking at is file associations. Netscape has it's own set of file associations as opposed to how windows and iE will handle them.

If you go into any windows window (say my computer) and then click oin view and then options you should see a tab that says file types.

In that list you want look for Microsoft excel Worksheet. This is what controls an xls documdent somewhere on your computer. You also want to find Microsoft Excel HTML document. This controls how an excel document opening on a webpage.

If you look at the open action properties you'll see the diference as to how these file types are opened.

In your case you want the HTML association to look like the excel worksheet or delete the excel html association and let it prompt you when you click to reassociate it
