3 PC Small Business Network..

By cyberghost_1 ·
Here is the setup...3 PC's, PC1 is going to be the Server, having the programs that are going to be used by the other 2 PC's. Since there isn't going to be an Internet connection for another week or so, what would be the best way to set the network? i.e...PC1 (Server) adding a PCI 10/100 Ethernet Card with 2 ports, (MB has onboard Ethernet) so PC's 2 and 3 connect directly to the Server? Or using a Switch? Since there is no Internet yet could I use a NetGear 4 Port Router? (1 WAN for conn. to Modem, plus 4 ports) At the moment I don't have a Switch, but I have the Router, what would be the difference if I add the 2 port Ethernet Card to the Server (PC1) and connect the other 2 PC's to it directly? At least I nead to connect one PC to the Server for tomorrow!!! So could I just connect one PC (PC2) to the onboard Ethernet Adapter of the Server (PC1) and the other PC (PC3) to the added PCI Ethernet Card?
All running WinXP PRO OS, PC1 (Server) has Celeron D320 2.66GHz, PC2 has VIA Samuel 2 800MHz, and PC3 has Celeron 2.4GHz I think. All with more then 256MB DDR, 80 GB HDD.

Basically: Server(PC1)-->(PC2) using onboard Ethernet \-->(PC3) using added PCI

It would really help if I could get help with this ASAP, it's for the my bosses' wife's ya know how that goes..THANKS
