3Com switch question

By vwsportruck ·
Hi All,

In trying to standardize the IP schemes of my network, one of my 3com 4400 switch stacks is being finicky. It works fine as it stands but I'm not currently able to make it "visible". It is a stack of 3 4400's that are linked via the cable on the back. Box #1 has the fiber cable connection and no IP. Box #2 also has no IP. Box #3 has a 192.168.x.x IP (not our chosen IP). The only MAC address my tools can see is the one for box #1. Since box #1 has no IP, I can't make a DHCP reservation for it. Decided to try putting box #3's IP from the 192.168.x.x to a static IP within our company's guidelines. Neither a cold-boot or hot-boot of the stack makes this box pingable. Decided to try setting box #3 to no IP and box #1 (the one my tools see the MAC address for) to the IP desired. Reboot the stack and still cannot ping the IP. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks all,
