Anti Virus Software

By kb8yvg ·
My subscription on Norton is about to run out. Thinking of changing to AVG. Would this be a good move or not. Have a couple weeks to play with and just can't make up my mind. Had thoughts of Kaspersky too but have read a few negatives about that one. What do I do!!!!!

Removing Norton

by boxfiddler Moderator In reply to Anti Virus Software

is a good idea, imo. I don't use AVG, but know many, many who do and are happy with it. I've heard and read good things about Avira, suggested above, too.

I use Avast, and have for several years with no issues.

Consider Avast and a couple of other helpful programs

by Jacky Howe In reply to Anti Virus Software

Avast only pops up when you need to update to a newer version or to let you know that it has been updated. I scan and check for updates at least weekly with both Spybot and MalwareBytes.

I have been using Avast which is free for home use on my five networked Systems for months now without any problems, no impact on performance either. You only have to register it and then re-register again annually. Set it and forget it.

This is when I switched over.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and do a regular scan and keep it updated.

<a href="http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe" target="_blank"><u>Malwarebytes</u></a>

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy and install it and Update it and run it.
