Which is the best antivirus for Home use?
I have used Norton Kspersky and NOD32.
The first two take up some RAm and the third hardly detects threats[may be dats just a feeling, still!]
I have a Intel P4 3.0GHz machine with Intel motherboard and 512mb ram.

Why not AVG

by superman In reply to well i never!

Why not AVG? I have it on all 30 of my PC's and have had a great run of luck with it. It dosn't take alot of mem. and space. What are some of your concerns about AVG.

My basic concern with AVG is that it doesnot scan some of the viruses like Win32Roktokbr. Iam not sure about it now, but 2 years back when i had an attack i had to take Avast to get off the problem. The thing is that they come out with solutions very late. Kaspersky on the other hand is very good as far as i can see, but i think its damn costly!

Run two

by Tig2 In reply to AVG

This is a good idea regardless. Try AVG and add a second as a back-up.

There is some malware that can disable your AV if it can detect it. Having a second already on the pc may help you to limit the damage.

Check out and search for anti virus.

P.S. Don't forget a good spyware tool while you are out there!

I am very happy with the free version of Avast. It is on all of my home PCs, and I recommend it to all for home use.

Based on how well Avast has worked for me, I would recommend the regular version for a small business.

Nod32 is a very excellent antivirus. This antivirus use the minimum Ram.i just use 512 mb Ram.No problem.I suggest this antivirus because their Powered by the ThreatSense? engine with advanced heuristics, which blocks far more unknown threats than the competition.Make your computer very secure bit per bit.
Nod32 also can offline very good for who don't have internet connection.
