Anyone considering or doing ITIL training should read this

“More on ITIL Version 3 certification from Pink Elephant, so good on Pink for giving us some transparency into their thinking. Unfortunately that thinking is a bit alarming. OGC’s and APMG’s failure to act in the ongoing fiasco which is the ITIL certification industry right now is unacceptable.

It confirms the IT Skeptic’s earlier inference that while Version 2 certifications will continue to be “recognised” as promised, they will be second class certifications that need “upgrading” and do not qualify as prerequisites for any Version 3 study.”

      More at http://www.itskeptic.org/node/188:
“V2 certifications will continue to be “recognised”. What is just now emerging is that they won’t be recognised as prerequisites for further V3 qualifications without an upgrade course first.

You won’t need to re-certify everyone, but once you get around to upgrading to V3, everyone is going to need some upgrade training obviously. This is especially so for those who want to go on to further qualifications [because it is a prerequisite]but everyone who needed training when you adopted V2 ITIL will likely need upgrade training when you adopt V3. “
