    I could do with a friendly voice – I’ve just had some bad news, and my new regime of drugs will inhibit my use of a keyboard.

          I am always Riff-Raff — just toned it down recently for several reasons.

          As for OM — you must not have followed the thread he started. It was about getting TR Swag, therefore he isnt Riff-Raff anymore :^0 — it went on for some time too (in questions forum).
          I figured, I had to comment 😀 maybe lighten up his mood a little.

      I don’t have Skype running anymore but I believe that GG does. I use SightSpeed.

      I understand that you can’t type what is happening just now. We need to get you Via Voice or other speech recognition software that will at least allow you to communicate when things get bad.

      Grab Dear Velcro. Let her purr at you until someone can get on Skype with you. I will go hunt for the download now.

      Having been on the business end of telecom, I just can’t SKYPE or VOIP with anything but a NEAX it seems. My body rejects VoIP for tha masses and I can’t stand signing up for aything online.

      But whatever is up, I promise you taht you have an immensely large group of dedicated Old Mycrofy fans on TR who will always stand by and support you. This place is great that way!

      Not that you care to, but should you ever need to PM a peer, click my link anytime. I am always more than happy to listen and love gettign peer mail, from most of you lot anyway.

      I will always accept charges or pass on my 800# if you want to give me a bell or PM.

      Well folks, it now offishul

      Yesterday morning I got 7 (yeah that’s right – SEVEN) insipid brown envelopes in the post. All from the same originating address. Now, that is odd in anyone’s book. Opening them wasn’t much help either, because they told me a story but first of all I had to figure out which order they had been composed in, so that they made any sense at all.

      Basically I was being informed that I was now the recipient of a stunningly large sum of Disability Benefits. Not only was it an increase in what they would pay me but it was backdated to October 2006 – at which point they told me I could whistle in the wind because they didn’t ‘believe’ my claim form.

      However, being a bloke with a reasonable interest in the internet, and GET THIS – my computer id is STILL valid for the GTN (Government Telephone Network) although I left MAFF in 1988. I’ve never used GTN to make free phone calls, but it does give me access to the inner sanctum of the internet. From where I found out some years ago, that if a benefits recipient is suddenly allocated the maximum amount, it is bcause the issuing body have been informed that the recipient is shortly for the OFF, therefore it’ll look good at the post-mortem that the stiff was in receipt of maximum benefits, even although historically s/he had been fighting with said Government Department for years! So, you could say that my internal alarm bells began to ring.

      I phoned for a taxi cab and went straight to my GPs surgery, using the vociferous side of my vocabulary to get in to see my doctor. He greeted me with the immortal line of…

      “I think you know what I might have been about to tell you?”

      …and a discourse ensued, mainly that I didn’t appreciate getting 7 brown envelopes and having to work out for myself that something was afoot, THEN my legs gave way and I found the carpet rising to meet me. My Ataxia had come back with a vengeance and the next thing I knew was a rather sharp pain in my neck from whatever hypodermic he had just administered. For those of you that don’t know: ATAXIA is the uncontrollability of the body’s extremities, they tend to have a life of their own. Your body’s extremities include your arms (with your fingers included), you legs (with – yep you guessed it, your toes included), and your EARS ~ which above all else are intuitive in your ability to stand up without falling over. Ask a mountain climber, he’ll tell you – in fact don’t bother (I’ve got memories of standing on top of some of the highest mountains in Europe) – I’m telling you.

      When I had regained the use of my faculties, the GP told me that my latest CAT Scan showed increasing shrinkage in ‘bits’ of my brain, and this information would have been made available to any Government Agency as a matter of course. He assured me that I had been informed before they had, but ~in my present condition~ I couldn’t really argue. Hell, maybe I got the sodding letter, maybe I even read it, I just don’t remember having done it.

      His prognosis was one of “Well, no-one really knows for sure…” but I reckon that was just his way of placating me.

      So – there you have it. When I posted the Skype notice, the injection in my neck still had my fingers all a-wobble although my legs (balance) did feel much better, and basically I was feeling rather sorry for myself. Most unlike the grumpy old man I try to be.

      I will forthwith make it my (… I was going to say “my life’s work”) but I’ll try to reign in my emotions slightly more than I have done of late.

      As my dear old Gran used to say – “There’s nothing worse than a Moaning Minnie.”
