Those eyries of late? Or, are they tolerated and welcomed back for hit count?

I did say, with words.

I don't see it.
When confronted with those that disagree, you give one blast of ink, then soar off the stage.
That reveals a basic lack of respect for your peers (or those you don't see as your peers), you don't allow for the fact that a) they can have a point within their perspective and b) they are smart enough to understand that you can have a point within your perspective.
I don't like that.
Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Growth. Respecting one's peers, even the "damned fools".
I don't mind being a "damned fool" to you, so long as you give me at least the time of day to explain why, and then listen to me prattle about why I disagree.
I don't ask anything more than that, and not necessarily for myself.

Or you can talk about history, I always get a kick out of that, and I think that's because you enjoy it, too.

Maxwell... I'll step down the antagonism.

It just bugs me that you simply lament what is lost (you know, a community changes when people leave, or when people die), instead of working to keep it alive, for example by cultivating that which you love(d).
You can't really expect other people to automatically be capable of the kind of communication you're into, but you can show it, sow the seeds of it, accustom people to it.
That's what Zambi there has done, and it's not a bad thing. People can and should tolerate, in their surroundings, more than one set of social interaction styles. If you share your view of things, you're making other people richer for it... but then, because they can now speak to you better, that wealth comes back to you, interests paid from each pupil.
We are all each others pupils, we can only somewhat choose what we teach, for good or ill.
So that's why I've snapped at you. You criticize the teachings of others, as if they are competing with yours, and they are not.
We humans are not that limited. We can embrace (apparently) the vastly divergent teachings of Jesus Christ, and capitalism, so surely we can embrace also two different kinds of verbal pugilism, nay thrice se'en kinds!

I was recently part of a forum where all people did was complain about how poorly other people wrote, just so they could feel special themselves. I was evicted for turning that back on them, telling them to get off their self-righteous asses and do something about it, share the language, keep it alive. This here speech is the same as that. It's one half of my message.
The other half is having fun with language, stretching it and whipping it around like Huey, Dewey and Louie whip around that fudge (ok, you saw through me, I'm one of those Barxist subversionists you've read about).

Not me, by God!

I'm gonna go put on my cap, put some chew in my mouth, spit a lot, and tell ya if you aren't followin Jesus the way they teach in my church...that you're gonna burn in ****!

Oh wait...that's about 25% of my hometown. :^0

I'm tolerant to a point, but when it goes from being sincere questioning and being sarcastic/caustic rope-a-dope questioning to try and get a rise out of someone in an antagonizing fashion...I become intolerant.

And when someone belittles the people I love, it is gonna get...well...bad things could/have happen(ed).

As for poor writing, it's one thing in an open forum that is prone to have posts from people ranging from 3rd grade to graduate educations. However, I've noted on several websites as of late that people writing articles 1) can't spell worth a flip, and/or 2) have no grasp of grammar in the English language, and/or 3) must not have taken/learned anything in the realm of a English proofreading course...because I saw articles with blatantly poor spelling and grammar...things I could have spotted at age 10. And, these are *professionals* on tech sites getting paid for that sort of print/journalistic quality? Pretty pathetic, if you ask me.

Luckily, I don't see a lot of errors on TR like I did a few other tech sites. Otherwise, I'd be PMing Jason about some remedial composition courses for the staff. :^0

With all due respect (assuming it's deserved), you haven't been around here long enough to know the first thing about me. As such, you know nothing about me. Nor does Santee - the biggest egotistical ****-hard I've ever encountered.

Listen Joe.

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Ansu

It doesn't take a genius to see the pattern to your posting.
Maybe you've been different in the past, but now you don't post from your passions enough.
You post from your distastes, which frankly aren't strong enough to make your posts interesting.
Really, if you miss something here, make it, create it, do it, be it.
Chances are, you have a perspective on it which nobody else has.
Chances are, it will be appreciated.
Chances are, you will be rewarded in kind.

Make yourself at home.

Home is a liquid though, at the moment.
Gotta sell my house. I am not particularly looking forward to being in limbo, and back with the folks.
