Those eyries of late? Or, are they tolerated and welcomed back for hit count?

Which illustrates my point

You've turned it into a toilet.

You sit upon it

And, principled Max, do your thing.

I, but, trip the lever. You are welcome.

Al Gore invented the internet

Maxwell Edison invented people talking about stuff.
And he's suing us for infringement

Thank you for your accolades... oh, to have even part of that to my name!

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Palmetto - You've been he ...

Did you ever consider that what you consider to be your very own invention, the water cooler, was and is something else to others?
Did you ever consider that others have a right to express themselves, and to be appreciated in accordance to how their peers will appreciate them?
Did you consider, that if you did not receive appreciation in the degree you felt you deserved, maybe you should give more, or let others know which game you're playing, by what rules?

It seems to me that you haven't kept going what you want to be going on.
And you think that what other people want to have going on is eating what you want to have going on? You're exactly like those dumbass economists who can't understand synergy, can't understand that society has immense amounts of space, and the more that space has going on in it, the richer everybody will be.

Don't 'grudge others
the air they breathe.
There's enough
to go around.
If you can't
catch breath
work them bellows
The fight
against the dying
of sound,
belongs to us
all by birth.

I think the format change has had more impact on killing conversation than those two. Between shunting discussions off to this ghetto and making them difficult to follow, the new format is a discussion killer. If I recall, that's why you went on hiatus; not any actions by any particular members.

Debate skills? Perhaps debate topics would have been a better term. It's just that the topics you've introduced since returning aren't up to those you were discussing before. No global warming, no political or legal positions, no ... fun.

Me, I've made the mistake of stepping into this quagmire. I'll give myself a half-dozen shots to the head, helmet-free, and again resolve to not participate in flame fests.

I'm out too...

Poetry or no.

Last one out, turn out the lights

by AV . In reply to Palmetto - You've been he ...

I remember the olden days on TR and the thing that I remember the most is that the community was very discerning as to who they let in. That doesn't happen anymore because the people that made the TR Community what it was are mostly gone now.

I think to make it great again that the bar has to be raised. The watercooler should be a place where we can have intelligent discussion, not gripe sessions or flame wars.

Personally, I don't care for that underline thing where you can curse and get it past the content filters. I hope some people will cut that out because I think its offensive and juvenile.

I think there has to be a sea change here. Santee needs to reconsider why he's here in the first place. Ansu needs to branch out, in my opinion.

Intelligent Discussion

By what measure? Victorian? All other comers, unregulated heathens?

By which protocol do you address Ansu and I in snide third-person, rather than directly? I've been around long enough to remember when that was a genteel no-no.

That's what you get for turning the light back on.

I can't PM you, AV, so I'll have to return to address your issue...

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Last one out, turn out th ...

For the off chance that your issue is with me, and not merely with my name.

Branch out, you say... I'm sorry, I can't possibly diversify any more, I'm already all over the place.

Setting the bar... you know, you set your bar where you want. People here seem to respond to what I say from time to time, and not in a uniformly bad way.

If, like Max, you feel like talking about me, and not to me, that'll **** me off. It's a rotten thing to do.
If, like a sensible person, you feel like deciding for yourself what you bother reading, that's entirely up to you.

But it sounds like you want to ask your peers to enact a multilateral "embargo" or somesuch - you should probably contact the thought police, maybe you can get them to kill me or cut off my hands. For the greater good.

But maybe I misread you - it's difficult to see what you mean from down here.

As for tricking the censor, that's been a game of the peers around here for as long as I've been observing (or maybe they weren't on the/your *real* peer whitelist? I can't know, can I? Maybe all the people I was interacting with were all unsanctioned/unlawful pariahs). Now, then I went and broke it, maybe that means the game is over, or that we need to discuss where to draw the line (or not draw the understroke), that's a fair point, and you are free to make the suggestion.

Talk to me, unlike Max, I always listen to a direct address, and always try to acknowledge my fellow humans.

I had all I could do, after shoving it in, not to twist it.

Edited to add: You dance a minuet. I cut in. I am not sorry, repentant, or reflective in the least.
