Insecure Boss Revisited

by dragonbill In reply to BERadio Tech Life

I just have to write this one. Today we met for a meet with a plumber doing a condensate line drain modification. Since we were going to be here on a Sat. we decided to move some critical equipment to new UPSs. Well, I got here a bit early and started on it. Being one of the items needed moving affected an on-air feed (we are a radio station), he noticed that the signal dropped and came back, so the boss calls. He lays into me whining that I started without him! It was enough to make me steam, but luckily I had cooled down be the time he got here.

Yes, I know what I am doing. 17 years in the business means something or at least I would expect it to. I was pretty much done when he arrived. I think I am dealing with a control freak and an insecure person. I did not do anything different than what he would have done. There is no reason for two of us to be here, either, but what can I say. I saw that our controller was in and he knows some of the wackiness of this guy. I told him what happened. He rolled is eyes and ask, "you know what you are doing, right?" I replied, "of course, it's nothing big". He said that there was no reason for his reaction and let it go. I've done that, it's just another thing that really makes me wonder if this "new" boss is worth the effort in the long run. I say "new" because he was hired back in March and he has been a pain ever since.

That's it. Just figured some of you out there can relate and know that you are not alone in this!

Bill
New Year and Time to Study

by dragonbill In reply to BERadio Tech Life

Here it is and I am now ready to study my A$$ off to renew my CCNA. It is a shame that I do not have the time or experience to persue the CCNP, but that's what I get for not working in the field.

Anyone else out there studying for this exam? I'll post some of my study links and list some of my tools that I use soon. Meanwhle, I guess I better work as I am sitting here at work! ;-)

Have a great day!

No Renewal of CCNA

by dragonbill In reply to BERadio Tech Life
Well, it doesn't look like I will be renewing my CCNA. Too much stuff going on. The biggest life changing event is our adoption of a baby girl. We travel in 3 weeks! Maybe with the new lack of sleep I will find some time to study.

Work has been a ***** with a boss who is just a major pain in the a$$. I get by, but it is quite annoying trying to work and have him get in the way. I thought bosses were to clear the way, but that is not always the case.

Looking forward to my new position as father!
