Promotions are meaningless to me

by kelvin lin In reply to Blog for Kelvin Lin

For most of the people, promotions may mean a lot.
But for me, it's meaningless.

Heaven's playing a trick on me since I was very young.
Can you stop your tricks as soon as possible?

I wanna be like normal human beings, hate of being called nerd and geek by people around me.

This post originally appeared on an external website

I don't believe that anyone is really "normal". Everyone is weird in one way or another. You are just hanging around the wrong people.

Kids know love better than adults

by kelvin lin In reply to Blog for Kelvin Lin

People defines love in various way as they deem fit. Even for me, I have been thinking about what's real love (including parental love, love in a friendship and of course love in a relationship).

Yesterday I received an email. It was about the interview with kids who are about 4 to 8years old about what's love and their answers really amazed and enlightened me. After reading up the whole interview, I have realised that there are three things going around,in and out of love - care, concern and respects.

The answers are quite funny but those 3 things are behind each and every of the answer.

Below are some extracts from the interview -

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."

Billy - age 4

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."

Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."

Danny - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."

Chris - age 7

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an image)

Karen - age 7

This post originally appeared on an external website

by kelvin lin In reply to Blog for Kelvin Lin

If you have been to Cityhall this few days, you will find out a lot of police forces, special forces, civil defence and even some soldiers walking around the RafflesCity area.

IOC (International Olympics Committee) is organising a meeting here to cast vote for 2012 host city. A lot of delegates including government leaders, politicians and sport stars are in town for the meeting.

IDA (with some IT security force from police force), SingTel and Cisco is taking charge of the IT security at the meeting. All the lights, systems as well as air-cons are controlled with specialised control system. Three organisations has already assigned a few professional hackers (don't scare, i am not assigned there)as well as security professional to guard against any attack.

This post originally appeared on an external website

Windows Vista - Clear, Confident, Connected: Bringing clarity to your world

by kelvin lin In reply to Blog for Kelvin Lin

Microsoft has finally announced the official name for Codename Longhorn, a new generation operation system by Microsoft which is believed to be launch in 2007.

This time round, Microsoft is not using any two letter words or version numbers. Instead, Microsoft renames the Codename Longhorn to Windows Vista. The beta release for Windows Vista is slated on Aug 3, 2005.

There are a lot reactions to this announcements, both positive and negative. Some experts believe that there can be some conflict with the name "Vista" from other corps.

For me, I prefer either version number or two letter words. The name "Windows Vista" is quite unfriendly to me.

This post originally appeared on an external website

Commercialization behind The Island movie

by kelvin lin In reply to Blog for Kelvin Lin

The Island movie is quite good and interesting. However, if you have already watched the movie, you will see that the movie actually advertised a few brands of clothes, watches as well as the IT stuffs.

First of all is the brand of the shoes and clothes (There's a logo on the shoes as well as the clothes although I am not sure what brand it is).

In the fighting competition, Microsoft's Xbox was advertised as the platform provider for the fight. When both of them fleed, they used Microsoft's MSN search as well as voice recognition application as a search tool to locate sponsors.

This post originally appeared on an external website

Internet Service Providers here, mainly SingTel and Starhub are planning to integrate WiMAX technology into current Wi-Fi internet services.

WiMAX technology means users will be able to access the internet wirelessly at even more further distance at higher speed than the Wi-Fi.

This post originally appeared on an external website
