Blogging for Bucks - Fugly Advertising

By CG IT ·
Ran across this article

on how bloggers make $$ blogging. Since many of us contribute to the discussion forum and that's basically blogging, I figured in this recession economy, maybe blogging can actually be a source of income or whether blogging is just adding to an already overflowing river of information pollution.

Personally, like spam, I think advertisers aren't looking at quality of ads and whether consumers will actually click an ad or buy something from the company because of the ad, rather only how many people come to a web page thus in their minds potential buyers of a product. There are some ads that are so bad that I personally wouldn't buy a product from that company because of the ad. One in particular that I find offensive is the dancing women ads. There's this housewife dancing around and the ad is for car insurance or some such rot. Then there is the anti aging ads where anyone with any brains knows the pictures are doctored up with photoshop and there's no cream or balm or whatever that's going to get rid of those kinds of wrinkles except going under the knife and getting a Joan Rivers type facelift.

If advertisers were smart, they would create a community web site just for advertisers where internet users can go for advertising much like commercial free TV programming....

Crazy People

There were some great, great advertising lines in that movie.

- Sony. Because caucasians are just too damn tall.

- Jaguar- sleek and smart. For men who would like handjobs from beautiful women they hardly know!

- Porsche, it's a little too small to get laid in... but you get laid the minute you get out.

and my personal favorite...

Did you just fart, or did this whole room just drive past an oil refinery?

Classic Movie and really really good

I loved it. All those truthful ads coming from the Crazy People when all the sane people were serving up a bunch of lies.

Simply a great movie.

There's actually nothing new about this

Brut had the same type ads during the late 60s and early 70s. Great ads, lousy product (at least the girls I was dating didn't like it!). By the time I graduated high school, only the hard core lounge lizards were still using it. I'm amazed to see it still on the shelf today.

Edit: My second serious girlfriend was very fond of Old Spice. I still have a bottle of it somewhere.

Don't remember those commercials...

but this bring up a good a point though. Aren't we a little jadded these days with seeing the bad in what wasn't meant to be bad?

Societies pus boils, child molesters, have been around long before news and the internet made us all aware of them. Should we filter TV ads because a very small percent of the population might view them for something other than an ad selling soap?

Holy cow!
Get rid of wrinkles, acne, grey hair, cellulite, change your eye color with contact lenses, make your hair thicker, straighter, curlier, ads for plastic surgery.

Where are the ads for the guys that will make these voices in my head stfu?

ROFL LMAO those ads really crack me up

Why in the world would anyone with any brains take a medicine that has rare but often fatal side effects? I mean come on that's Russian Roulette. Truth in advertising is one thing but why run an ad that they have to say if you take this medication, you could possibly die....

there's one for seepage.

by CG IT In reply to Like the one to stop gas

Jeff Foxworthy did a bunch of jokes on that one.

If I had some disease and a drug could have benefits and the draw back was seepage, I don't know. Having to wear Depends comes to mind.
