Booting to DOS using Windows ME

By BytetheBit ·
Hello:

This is a very basic question. But for the life of I can't seem to figure out how to boot into DOS using Windows ME?? With Windows 9x, from the boot menu, you have the option of selecting "command prompt" for DOS, however, with Windows ME there is no such option listed. Any advice on how to boot to DOS using Windows ME?

Thank You,

Alex

If you create a WinME boot disk using the Add/Remove Programs>Startup Disk creation method you can then boot to the boot disk and get a DOS prompt. This is the quickest way to get the results you asked for. But keep in mind that MS has removed 16bit real mode operation from WinME so it is just a non-GUI interface and not true 16bit DOS mode as in older OS's.

Hope this helps.
