Camping Help !!!

By Darryl~ Moderator ·
Okay, here's the story......

PurpleSkys & I want to take our little girl on a camping trip with "just us"....not all the other sisters...etc......Purple says we have to stay inside a 2 hour drive radius....that covers much of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, & a bit of New Brunswick ......hummmm

Where do we go?

Free thumbs for good answers. :)

Can't help with Nova Scotia sadly

I will get to Cape Breton at some point.

I did rent a cottage in Stanhope PEI a few years back, I know the National Park there has camping.

It was a great quiet beach within walking distance, a small harbour where you can buy fresh fish or take out, a small hotel if you want a drink by a fireplace, and a golf course. Very short drive to Brackley beach and a drive in theatre. Ceilidghs everywhere.

I'm sure the girls would love the Anne of Green Gables village in Cavendish, but I wouldn't stay in that area - too many tourists. :)

The water might be on chilly side in late August.

I suggested both PEI & Cape Breton

to her but she turned them away....she said it was just a little too far to travel after work with the 6 yr old in tow...then to set up a tent.

The water on the North side of PEI is always cold...lol...very nice beaches though.

We thought about maybe somewhere near Five Islands or something along the Bay of Fundy....maybe the North Shore on Nova Scotia.

PEI would be nice though...with the bridge, it's only about 2.5 hours to Charlottetown now....with the ferry, it used to take the best part of a day.

Yeah I know how that goes

I've set up my trailer in the dark. But tents are even more fun.

At my first computer job a big group of us went camping in Algonquin. We all left at 5 pm and its a 2 hour drive, can be 3 on a summer Friday. One carload waited till the last minute and at 5 pm went to Canadian Tire and bought their gear.

They showed up about 10pm, the sun had set and the first line of the instructions for setting up the tent read: "It is a good idea to not attempt to set this tent up for the first time in the dark. We recommend setting it up at home in daylight to become familiar with the procedure." We had a few laughs that night.
