Camping Help !!!

By Darryl~ Moderator ·
Okay, here's the story......

PurpleSkys & I want to take our little girl on a camping trip with "just us"....not all the other sisters...etc......Purple says we have to stay inside a 2 hour drive radius....that covers much of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, & a bit of New Brunswick ......hummmm

Where do we go?

Free thumbs for good answers. :)

Purple you could always take the little one to see this

by OH Smeg In reply to no takers?

It would certainly be an Education for her.

However it's probably the wrong time of the year and too far away for your present needs. Though maybe next year you could go.

Safe camping

by mjd420nova In reply to Camping Help !!!

Without knowing the age of the little girl, care must be taken to scout out camp sites that have "vault" type toilets. My experience with the younger set and camping in some of the more desolate places, the toilet can present a pretty harrowing experience for the younger females in a group. This can actually make or break an otherwise delightful time.

very true

by PurpleSkys In reply to Safe camping

she's 6. One of the stipulations is that there are flush toilets on site that are relatively clean. She's had one camping experience this summer but that was to Grammie's cottage over on the north shore. We tented, but Grammie's cottage was right there, she did really well so we thought we would give a true campground a go.

Darryl and I are former avid campers, we would go anywhere pretty much, but she's pretty sheltered by mom and dad so we're trying to go in smaller steps to different types of campgrounds.

So, how goes the search?

by seanferd In reply to Camping Help !!!

I know next to nothing about Nova Scotia, but looking at the site, I'd imagine that just stepping outside would be wonderful!

An Ohio couple seemed pretty impressed with Cheticamp

So, perhaps check out the camping facilities, which sound quite good:
Seems like flush toilets are included.

i'm not really up to driving to Cheticamp

by PurpleSkys In reply to So, how goes the search?

grant you, it is beautiful there. Darryl and I drove down to Sydney via the Cabot Trail almost 8yrs ago, it's very pretty down around there. We went in October just as the leaves were starting to turn, it's gorgous!

Edit: To keep folks up to date, I was called today for a job interview on Friday @ 4pm, so keeping closer to home now would be a good thing. I'm thinking closer to Pictou/Caribou maybe?

We missed it by a few days....

if we were there a week earlier it would have been a whole bunch better.

Last week of September is the best time for that.

Ah, so that is a bit out of range, then.

Sounds fantastic, though. It would certainly be a bit of a hike for me.

Congrats on the job interview - I hope it goes well.

Best wishes in finding a suitable spot.

Oo er, and thanks for the Thumb.
