Can I install windows XP using this way?

By strawberryjona ·
I had a laptop computer with no CD ROM (and no floppy drive). I had always been wondering how to format and reinstall windows XP on it. Can I use this method to install Windows XP on it or are there other better way?

If you have the Windows XP cd/dvd then yes you can..

But you will need to wipe the drive first with this:
killdisk:
http://software.lsoft.net/boot-cd-iso.zip

This is in an ISO format so you will need this as well:
ISO burner:
http://software.lsoft.net/IsoBurner-Setup.exe

Please read the instructions first, PLUS make sure you BACKUP your work first of all. :)

PXE Boot

You could setup a PXE boot, boot and install over the network. I've seen several websites with instructions of how to do this, though none jump to mind. If I remember correctly, even MS's knowledgebase details a method.

Look for a hidden partition

Most computers that have no CDROM, like a netbook, have a partition with Windows installer on it. The advantage is that it also will install all the HW specific drivers you need.
