    Can’t open program

    i’m running windows xp sp1 and my problem is that. somehow all the software in windows except for my computer, my document and control panel cannot be accessed. somehow all the file and icon cannot be associated with the program including system restore and any files cannot be opened. e.g *.doc, *.exe, *.xls and so on. and there no virus involved furthermore reinstall windows won’t do any good. the last time i resolve this by deleting current windows installation. so can anyone help me to solve this problem. please

      Sounds like a corrupted User Profile. You’ll need to create a new user profile in the Control Panel in Safe Mode if you can. Failing that you’ll need to do a [b]How to perform an in-place upgrade (re installation) of Windows XP[/b] at the following URL

      i have tried to perform an in-place upgrade before but it doesn’t works for me. even in safe mode it’s still the same.

      Can you inspect the events by run eventvwr.msc?
      May be something wrong with system files…
      Inspect running processes with task manager and look for suspect ones.
      Try from run : sfc.exe.

      After a fresh intallation it’s a good ideea to make a system restore point and so on at every change you make. You can use them with repair console or with ERD Commander. Another solution is to make a partition image frecvently. Good luck and happy new intalation.

        i know that the only way to resolve my problem but i wish that i can resolve it without having to reformat of start another fresh installation. i’ve tried using erd commander but the result is still the same.
