A little history lesson for you . . .

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Cant read a dvd on lite o ...

Way, way back, a long time ago:

Users only had 3.5in [before then 5.25in, 8in, 11in] floppy drives to transport computer files between computers. Depending on the relative alignment of the drive-head some users found that disks could be read on one machine but not on another.

Nowadays, the floppy drive is a museum piece but the problem still remains.

There is no guarantee that what is recorded on one optical drive will be readable on another optical drive. In the majority of occasions it works, but not all the time.

Domestic DVD players have a much greater tolerance for variances in optical media and don't complain as much as computer drives do. By the same argument, domestic DVD players are crap at reading DVDs containing computer data files.

If you want to be able to play it with your LiteOn drive, copy it from the DVD-R into the computer and burn it back out on the LiteOn. You could also copy it from one computer to the other using a suitably sized Flash Drive.
