Caps Lock Visibility

By jazz23 ·
I'm reaching out to anyone that may be able to assist.

One of the managing directors for the company I work for, has made a request in regards to his hardware setup.

He has a Desktop, Laptop and Thin Clients that he uses for work tools - at the office, both at Head Office and offsite offices as well as home.

Most of the equipment has been setup with Wireless keyboards.

The issue at the moment is that most wireless keyboards do not display on the keyboard when the Caps Lock has been activated. Although there are software addons for this, the main problem is that he does have problems with his eye sight. A small indicator either in the system tray or on the Wireless transmitter is not in your face enough.

The request has been made to preferably find an answer that when he glances down at either the keyboard or screen he sees a constant indicator if the Caps Lock is on.

Any ideas or points in the right direction would be appreciated.

Here ya go...

My father suffers from the same weak eyesight condition and wayward fingers, so I hear your frustration

Here is a source for two freeware options:

One is 'DK:Keyboard-Status' it requires that balloon tips are active. So, if you use TweakUI and disabled them, you'll need to re-enable them in the Taskbar section.
The other is 'DKOSD' that puts big green letters on the screen for a few seconds.

The most popular choice is a shareware product ($25) - Clever Keyboard Indicator:

That's what I got for my father. It is the most complete answer with lots of options.

I hope this helps.

I saw all three products while I was doing Google searches and have downloded and tested.

I dont know if I mentioned that this will need be a constant reminder, so when he looks at the screen will be able to tell if it is activated or not.

Couple of those programs only shows the display for a few seconds and then disappears.

But I can only show what I have found and gauge reactions that way.

Thanks for the response.
