How do I change my BIOS settings to point to another drive?

each bios mfg different and lots of differences throughout the years. so to give you the answer you seek, post the age of the computer and the BIOS manufacturer?
You may need to force redetection of the drives. If your BIOS is newer it should be detecting the drive unless your drive is really old and has to have its parameters entered manually in the bios. post the drive model number if this is the case.
otherwise, sounds like you have cabling or jumpering or power problem that may be keeping the drive from being detected.
I watch the black screen at cold boot. I look for my drive to be detected. If it is not detected, I look for a problem with the jumpering. I look for a cable that is on backwards. I make drive has power. If all yes, I download and run diagnostics on the drive obtained from drive mfg website
