Change Administrator Password in SBS 2003

    Locked

    by dpotter555 ·

I am running SBS 2003 and need to change the administrator password. I want to make sure I do it correctly so that any services that depend on that password will continue to run and my exchange services will not suddenly stop. Can anyone advise me of the correct way to do this?

The easiest way maybe to login as the admin, hit ctrl, alt, delete, and hit change password.

As you mentioned, a few services depend on this password. You will have to stop these services. GO into admin tools, services. With this open, you should see a tab that says “Log on as” click this to sort by it.

Now you will be able to see all the services that start with your admin password. SHould appear as Domainname\administrator. Right click each service and go to properties, there is a “log on” tab that you can change the password.
