Cisco VPN with dynamic IP addresses

By ignaciohernandezr ·
Hello, I am overseas and sadly not able to get static IP
addresses from my
ISP. So far the way I handle VPN's is with linksys RV042
and I might add, this combination has worked good.
However, since
business is getting better, I decided to get cisco to protect
me but I
want to know if I can do the same thing since this has
worked for me so
Any thoughts on this?, I appreciate your help!

depends on what Cisco product you bought....

the 800 series will do dynamic IP detection on the WAN but you have to be sure the model you get has that feature. Further, you want to make sure that if you have a modem provided by your ISP, you don't get the ADSL model as it has modem capabilities which will conflict with your ISP modem.

the Linksys products provide full firewall capabilities on the WAN port and are much more user friendly for configuration with it's web utility than the Cisco brand [though both are Cisco companies]. Cisco IOS is not for the novice as configuring access lists can be quite confusing [requires planning ahead] and take up a lot of admin time.
