Col, or, Jacky

I don't expect you to duplicate the research I have already done. But, maybe, you know already as a matter of course with your expertise, like, looking over your shoulder...

Mine is a A8N32-SLI Deluxe MB, Socket 939, AMD 64 -- NVidia, RealTek, Marvell, etc -- for which W7 comes up empty for drivers.

The MB and CPu are not that old, or, so I would like to think. Am I looking at $400-500 for hardware replacement? This is what my people are telling me.

Realizing, belatedly, you have me now where you want me.

Asus site

Very first place I went.

Just now, with the link you kindly provided, I noted that several downloads were updated day before yesterday. That happened also on Thanksgiving Day here, spending most of that time, and the day before, prowling sites. NVIDIA, for instance, was down for maintenance on one day, then up the next with new W7 drivers for my GeForce 7600GT. I downloaded and burned a CD on my other machine (VHB), then loaded them on this one.

Even now when I check ASUS, I see every OS listed except W7.

Just select the Vista drivers for your motherboard....

The drivers for Vista will work for you in Windows 7. I am running Vista drivers on my system in Windows 7 as i am typing this to you, so all is well. Try it out and get back on here if all goes well (or not).

Thank you for the gift, PT.

Started installing at 4 p.m.

XP up and running. Online (obviously). Logged into TR. Firefox installed (next, NoScript). Email configuration to go. More updates from MS, etc.

Now, if I haven't overdone the Harveys Bristol Cream, I'll titivate, and press on in the morning.

Sorry Santee I've just seen this

But in addition the 32 Bit Vista Drivers will work with 7 but you'll find that the 64 Bit version of 7 is different enough that the 64 Bit Vista Drivers may not work.

But by the looks of things ASUS has updated their Web Site with new Drivers for this M'Board and 7.

They must have just updated it, unless I had not drilled deeply enough.

In any case, I have just fortified myself with lunch; am now rolling up my sleeves; preparing to go offline with this one (Linux) and on with the other (VHB), and do battle.

If you all sense a disturbance in The Force, you will know I have been vanquished.

I am running the 64 bit Vista drivers on my Windows 7 64 bit system...

So they do work, the only thing that might happen is the computer might not shutdown properly, your system (Windows) will all shutdown but your computer will still stay on, you will have to press the main startup button for a few seconds to shut the system completely, this only happens on Asus's motherboards so far as i know.
