i have a software which is using for connect with electronic board for communicate with the pcb.

the problem is the connector in the PCB board is RS232 9PIN. in my new laptop there is no RS232 port.

So i bought a USB TO SERIAL connector cable and insttaled it's software in my system and tried to connect with the PCB. Always it's COM Port is showing COM4. The software which I use for the PCB is always looking for the COM1. it will work only through COM1.

i connected the USBtoSerial Converter cable on my Laptop and went to the Device Manage and selected the USB to Serial item and changed it's port to COM1 even after that also not get connection to PCB.

could you please help me to get the COM1 for the USBtoSerial Converter as default.

thak you for your help

Hi, there is actually an easy solution for this. After you plugin the USB to Serial adapter you go to Windows Device Manager and right click on the port, chose Properties and then unde the advanced tab you can change the COM port number.
