Computer searches for uninstalled driver

By esikkema ·
I had a Calcomp digitizer tablet connected to my computer. After I uninstalled and disconnected it every time I start my computer - blue screen w/ message "computer can't find the Calcomp driver hit return to continue", So I continue but it is annoying.
How do I remove the search for that driver?

Some older programs put start up code in files call win.ini and system.ini. These are from windows 3.X, but are maintained by Windows 9X and NT for compatability reasons. Go to your start button and click on Run and type SYSEDIT and Enter. Check to see if there is any refrence to the device in the files. If so delete those lines and save the files.

REGCLEAN from the MS download site should be considered if you're hesitant about messing with the registry. Also, PC Magazine has a similar utility that only looks for "uninstalled" apps.
