Configuring a laptops dialup adapter aft

By davinlee ·
I'm trying to configure a laptop that is running MSN as its online Service to my NT4.0 Server. Once I load the NT network protocols to the laptops windows98 operating system and connect to the NT4.o server, the Internet explorer and Outlook Expressno longer works on the dialup adapters TCP/IP connection. The only way to access MSN is through the NT server. I need this laptop to use the dialup when its away from the office but can't seem to get MSN to work when its away from the office (not connected to the NT server). The network configuration seem to disable or reconfigure the Dialup Adapter. I have contacted MSN and they were no help in solving this problem. can any one enlighten me on this issue. Davin

Easy fix. Open Internet Explorer properties. Connections tab. Check the option "Dial whenever a network connection is not present". If you have a "dial-up" entry made and IE doesn't see a network connection, it will dial the Dial-up connection.
