Connecting Belkin N1 Vision to Zoom x3 router/ADSL modem

By paul ·
I had a netgear access point connected to the zoom originally - worked fine. I now want to upgrade so purchased the N1 but I cant get it to connect to the internet. N1 ip is and zoom is Cat5 from zoom to wan port of N1. Tried DHCP on one or other. ISP is BTBroadband PPPoA. Cant ping zoom from PC connected to N1 via cat5.
Can anyone help?

what ive read the n1 is also an ADSL modem/router...

first of all change the ip of the N1 so its in the same ip range as your zoom. make it

turn DHCP off on the ZOOm and turn it on in the N1.

now you can either connect the 2 together with a cat5 cable (n1 (lan socket not wan!)) to the zoom lan socket.

go into the properties of the N1 and enable wireless bridging via mac address of both units.....

set your pc to auto detect ips and you should be away

for the prompt reply, your suggestion makes sense however with the N1 I have noticed that if there is nothing plugged in the Wan socket then the display claims there is no modem!

I will however try your suggestion tonight and report back.

If is use a static wan ip the Ni now says it is connected to a modem but it still cant get through to the internet.

The Wan config uses static with and its ip and and dg. It also needs a dns ip and at the moment I have given it

The zoom is quite old and I am minded to replace it but can only get router/modems and so will I have the same issue?
