Connection to Network but not Internet

I am working on a Dell desktop running Windows XP, connected via USB to a Westel 6100 modem for Verizon DSL. The user reported that although they didn't change anything, they are no longer able to get to the Internet (neither E-Mail nor Internet Explorer). I went to Network Connections and confirmed that network connectivity is good.

I checked with Verizon and they confirmed the connection is good to the modem. I pinged and was successful, as was a ping to the modem. I looked at ipconfig and the computer appears to be receiving a valid TCP/IP assignment via DHCP.

In Services, I checkedto ensure that DHCP was running.

I am lost as to what else to try to get Internet connectivity. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
