Contact List Sharing without Exchange

By resmith ·
Using Outlook 2000 in a peer to peer network without Exchange. Is there anyway to share the contact list besides using Net Folders. If we decide to return Outlook 2000 is there another app that would work for sharing contact lists without using a server. Lotus Notes?? Never used it, but not sure if it would cost us a fortune or be in the same position.

Are there any 3rd party tools that work by sharing the contact list etc...

Thanks

Hi,
if you do not want to use an other product instead of OL2K you have to run a smtp-pop3 mail-server in order to use net folders. Try a freeware mail-server like mercury. Go to http://www.pmail.gen.nz

This may be unconventional but it works if you have a group of about 20 persons and the contacts list is relatively static, i.e. business contacts. Export the master contacts folder to a .pst and then email it to everyone and have them import it. When the master list is updated perhaps monthly, email it again and Outlook will append new addresses and overwrite old ones.
