Dead HD

By Former CIO ·
Have a Seagate 30.6 drive ( 3.5 yrs old) that just died one day. On startup drive not recgonnized and no spin up of the drive. Checked voltahg=ges at the connector and all good. Tried a different HD and ran fine. Took bad HD and tried in different sys and same problem no spin up no nothing. Thought about buying an exact replacement and swapping the controler? Any other thoughts? - DOn't want to spend big $$ with a company like OnTrack estimate alone is 100 bucks. The controller is a pin connect so I won't have to find my soldering iron. Thanks
