Delete Operating system

I have a PC that when you boot it has a message on whether to chose win xp or windows me. My question is how can I delete the windows me operation system and keep the windows xp operating system. Thanks

just edit the boot.ini file but make sure you make a copy of it first.

see i tried that but it still gives me the option..what am i doing wrong? I want to delete it (media center) and try reinstalling it over again.

attach it to an email. Send it to me at via the peer mail system with an appropriate message title. I'll examine it closely, and mark the adjustments etc and send it back to you.

so you want me to do this open Control Panel, System, Advanced - Start up and Recovery, click on settings button. Click on Edit button, edit boot.ini as per above.


and copy whats in notepad and send it to you? k i will im at work now though so i cant till after 330. Thanks for your help i appreciate it.

ok now theres a huge problem

i got a message saying i have to activate this windows. i own mediacenter but i thought i just deleted it? on top of that i already installed this windoes and validated it on my laptop. can someone please help me. how do i continue using my desk top?

Have you been playing around in the registry?

the activation stuff is in the registry and a hidden file, change either one and it thinks it's not activated.

You need to either find and restore that setting, or reactivate with MS over the Internet or by phone.
