I'm a rookie and I need the right answer. I've passed NetEssentials, Workstation 4.0 and Server 4.0 (for the almost deceesed NT 4.0 MCSE certification)and I'm currently going for Enterprise. Question: NT Server 4.0 in The Enterprise study guide "Network Press, Sybex" Chapter 1 page 12 Table 1.1 states that a PDC can become a BDC. This goes against what I have been taught from the beginning. I also encountered this in the previous book, NT 4.0 Server. Can you guys help?

If a PDC crashes or becomes disconected from the network, you can promote a BDC to PDC. Once the original PDC comes back on line, Server Manager offers and option on either the new PDC or the original PDC (I don't recal which) to demote to a BDC. Buttomline, you need access to both the original and the promoted PDC when bringing the original PDC back.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
