DLL problems

By lisacav ·
I am having a major DLL problem on my machine. When I try to log on to my ISP icon to connect to the Internet it will either freeze up my machine and I have to re-boot without shutting down properly or it will tell me that I have a problem with the run.dll and it will not allow me to log on. I had to subscribe to AOL just so that I could get on the Internet because I can't with my connection through my local ISP. I am so frustrated with this and I am not sure what I need to do to fix it. Can anyone help? You can email me at lisacav@ntplx.net. Thanks in advance.

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Firstly go to control panel, then to add/remove programs, and click the windows setup tab. Then remove the tick next to the box for communications so that it is a blank box. You will then need to restart your machine. When you do, go back into control panel and add/remove programs and place the tick back into the communications box. This will then reinstall all your communications software and drivers.
If this doesn't work and you are running windows 98, then you could try the following:
Click start, then run and type in sfc . Place a tick in the option to extract a specific file and type in run.dll . The program will ask for your installation CD. It will restore the original run.dll file from your CD.
Hope this helps,
Colin
