DEpends on a few things really ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Downloads wont complete

First of all, WHAT downloads are you talking about?

Secondly, what internet connection do you have? There's a big difference between 8% download on a broadband connection or on dial-up in terms of time taken / quality of connection.

Finally, do you have the capability yet to restart from where the download left off? If so, have you tried multiple attempts for the one download yet?

Lost Packets and Connections

by TheChas In reply to Downloads wont complete

Downloads generally stop when there are either too many lost or bad packets, or the connection resets.

If you have a high speed connection, having download problems could be a warning sign that your cable or DSL modem is failing.

If you are on a shared connection, it could be an issue that another user has a high priority and is resetting your connection.

If your free drive space is critically low, that can interfere with downloads.

You might try any of the numerous download managers that are available.
