I just upgraded my compaq Presario 4880 to win2000. I got a nice fx700 17″ monitor. The driver for the easy acess button is build for a 95/98/me. I have search Compaq data base for an updated driver for win2000. Where can i find of buy a windows 2000 professional driver for my fx700 monitor

There were not many resources for the driver other than compaq, you will need to deal with them on supplying a driver to suppor w2k
You can check http://www.driverguide.com,which someone had posted a similar driver request.-

If the label on the monitor identifies who built the monitor for Compaq, you might be able to use their driver.
However, if you are asking about what I think you are, the easy access button might be part of the video card driver.
If the easy access button is used to change screen resolution, those are normally part of the display addapter (video card) driver, and not the monitor driver.
I would check with Compaq for an updated driver for the video card, and install that.

The eassy access buttons anable me to turn off and on the computer, access the internet, turn up the vol. and forward or reverse the CD in the DVD when I’m watching a movie. The monitor works great, but the Access button is disable due to thedriver are for win95/98/me.

Hi,
If the monitor is working ok and its just the extra buttons, then buying a new monitor just for that would be overkill.
You can get keyboards with extra buttons for all sorts of “easy access” functionality. Many of them are even programmable – so you can assigne the functions you want to them.
Buying another keyboard would be a lot cheaper for you…
Cheers,
Tim.-

Tim, you are right. If i can not find the right driver, i can always re-install Win98se or ME, but i like win2k.

Proprietary PCs like compaq don’t have lots of options to work around when replacing parts. You have to buy replacement parts from them. I don’t think you can find the W2K driver anywhere else other than their site. Well if those easy access button are important to you, a new monitor with those capabilities will resolve your problem. Make sure the new one will be compatible with your pc. I recommend to replace it with the same brand.

They are important to me, since I like everything to work correctly. If I can find the manufacture of the Compaq Presario FX700 Monitor, I’m willing to buy another. There is no reference on the Compaq database.

You might want to try and install the 95/98/ME drivers for your monitor. (A side note, make sure that you have all of the updates downloaded from microsoft.com before attempting to try this fix)
Under Control Panel, double click on Display, then click on settings, then click advanced button. Go to the tab that says monitor, and see what Windows 2000 says that you have installed for a monitor. If you want to change it, click properties then you will want to click on the driver tab, and then update driver. Follow the on screen instructions, and make sure that you select *search for a suitable driver for my device*. Now here is the kicker, if you have a CD or disk with drivers for your monitor, NO MATTER WHAT OS, unclick everything except*specify a location*.
Make sure that the CD or disk in inserted, and then browse to the *.inf file that contains the information on your monitor, it will probably say that there is no digital signature with this driver, click on continue installation anyhow, and it should see that the driver that you are trying to install is a better match than the one that Win 2k is using. Finally just follow all of the on screen instructions for finishing installation of the monitor software.
(NOTE! This procedure worked on installing a Gateway VX700 monitor on a Windows 2000 system)

Thanks for the info, I already try it. The driver for the monitor is not the problem, the monitor works real goodb(no problem at all), the problem is the Eassy Access Button attach to the monitor, that is not working, because the driver for the Easy Access Button is not comparable to the OS.
