Email not delivered via MS Mail

By White Wolf ·
One of my users has run into a bit of a head scratcher - the users Outlook 2000 Mail client cannot send emails to MS mail (3.5) recipients, but *can recieve them* from people sending them to the user through MS Mail and can also send & recieve internet emails just fine.

Anytime an email is sent to *any* MS Mail recipient, the user simply gets back an email stating "Mail could not be delivered due to a problem with the postoffice.", and the messages don't get sent through to the recipient.

I verified the users account and MS Mail's postoffice configuration by setting up the users account on another XP machine (the users on XP Pro) and sent email to (& from) MS Mail recipients without a problem.

I've tried disabling the problem pc's desktop firewall, using Office's Detect & repair option,
ran Virus Scan, Norton Disk Doctor, and Adware. Also deleted the MS Mail service line item from outlook and reset it all up. But still get the error on sending to MS Mail recipients.

Any other ideas on what else should I look for?
