Exchange not able to send to AOL

By MCPKen ·
My exchange server is not able to send email to AOL.COM. My users are able to receive email from AOL. When email is sent to AOL, it goes in the outbound mail queue and then leaves. But the AOL recipient receives no email. The event logs on the Exchange server say "a new SMTP connection has been made to host 205.188.156.164(for AOL.COM)." I need to find a solution for this. The person who provides the right solution will get all the points.

I would just like to add that I think that it was funny that the an AOL user is giving you advise on this question. Sorry, trurod70@aol.com, but couldn't you have used another username for this question.

LOL

ALSO:
Steve Cody, who is norammly pretty good, has given you more IP address to telnet and check out, do those too before you resort to using the e-mail tool I was talking about.

How large are the emails being sent? AOL has a very small limit on the size of emails allowed through their servers. Try sending a small test message - no graphics, spreadsheets, or any other attachments.

I've got it.. AOL uses reverse lookup when delivering their mail.. (if a domain doesnt exist, or isnt correct, it wont accept the message).. are you using autosend thru any program without a correct email account? You might want to give AOL a call and check your domain.

Sounds like everything is working fine as far as sending mail to AOL. AOL has been known in the past as deleting incoming mail from "black listed" sources. AOL maintains a database of possible spam domains. If they receive mail from these, instead of sending a reject, they delete the mail. We have discussed this at several conferences where others have had this problem. Sometimes AOL misinterprets spam and blacklists the wrong source. I have no way of confirming this, but I would definitely contact AOL to find out if your domain is listed in any of their "lists".

Hope this helps.
