Fatal Exception error

By Konig ·
I recently rebuilt my system. I am running Win98 as my OS. Among the other "programs etc." that I loaded beyond that I installed a game from Microsoft called Age of kings II. It gave the message that in order for it to operate properly I had to restart my computer. When I did a Fatal exception error appeared. It was Fatal Exception Error occured at 0167:BFF8E0(zero)CC. Can anyone out there explain?

Fatal Exception error

I was told of another reason and it seems to have worked. I took the computer to a friend who owns a computer shop and he had me take the cover off and instantly saw what the problem was. I had all three DIMM slots filled with memory. The problem lay in that one of the modules was "running/accessing" info at 10ns whereas the other two were "running?accessing" info at 12ns or more. He apparently knew what he was talking about, because I have not had a problem since.

yes yes all great answers, if it happens again how does one get back? Go to safe mode and uninstall it all from there to safely reboot. Regards Merete
Just thought I'd add that.
