Go here: http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/
Then select products - free
Download - MBRwork (14Kb!)

This will do the trick - no problems.

Since it's a compressed volume, all you need to recover is the .cvf file - basically the ocmpressed disk image file. Restoring with F-Disk might work, but I'd error on th side of safety and download one of the free file recovery apps previously mentioned and use it to recover the compressed volume file. Then just put the recovered file on the new drive, mount it, and either use it or ( much preferred ), uncompress it onto the new drive.

Use a program called "Lost & Found" by Powerquest. Street price approx. $29.00. I have used it to recover data from a drive that was re-formatted.

If you know what the perameters where before you fdisk'd it you can simply re-fdisk it with the same perameters. This will revert the hard drive to it's previous condition. I have done this before. You also might ask your client if he has this info. Make sure you avoid writing to the hard drive until data is recovered. Once written to it will nearly impossible to recover unless you hire a professional.

I recomend a program titled "hard drive mechanic." I have used it in the past on a hard drive that I fdisk'ed and formated. It seemed to recover all of the data. The proccess is a bit lengthy, but works. I recomend searching for the program on the net, someone is likely to to have it on their website, or you might try zdnet. it is also fairly cheap at local software retailers.
