Finding your discussions -- A question for our uber-community members

Hey, several of you have said that you're having a hard time finding the threads that you're participating. We're trying to better understand this so that we can fine-tune what's displayed in your profile.

Can you help by telling us what you're having a hard time finding and/or what's missing from the current My Stuff | My Discussions?

Thanks for your feedback. We're going to keep tweaking and tuning, with your help.

If 'Just In' and 'Top Rated' must remain,

by CharlieSpencer In reply to I couldn't have said it b ...

at least move the identifying tags to the LEFT side of the post titles. As a 'set in my ways' old timer incapable of adapting to change, when I open a discussion I expect the first posts I see to be the first comments posted. I keep forgetting that's not what I'm looking at now. I can't help the habits y'all have ingrained in me over the last decade. I can live with the 'last in, first out' sort order many other sites use. But this approach of having two 'out of context' posts at the top is confusing, especially when you're opening the discussion for the first time and have to scroll down to learn what it's about. If nothing else, move them beneath the original post.

What if...

we made the "Just in" and "Top Rated" collapsible (like the three feature boxes at the top of the page)?

If that were a per user default configuration

by boxfiddler Moderator In reply to What if...

it could work. But if we have to collapse them each time we enter a Discussion, that's a major boo-hiss.

I agree

The feature boxes do seem to stay collapsed... just in and top rated really had better stay collapsed too... I hear lots of folks are having intermittent logout issues or settings reset issues, etc.

Did you mean global setting?

Good idea,

by CharlieSpencer In reply to What if...

if only because it might be measurable. I'd like to know what percentage of the active membership sets them to collapse by default.

Oh, yes, I like collapsible

by NickNielsen In reply to What if...

That would clean things up a good bit.

Water Cooler Stuff...

by cmiller5400 In reply to Finding your discussions ...

I posted a comment in a water cooler thread and I couldn't find it in "My Stuff". I had to go digging through the water cooler to find the post.

That's a bug...

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Water Cooler Stuff...

Off-topic discussions don't show in "my stuff"... but they do show in the "view more" listing found at the bottom right of the main discussions listing... this "view more" is very promising, really, except it's ridiculously verbose. If it could be trimmed down to just thread name, and who posted last, it would be awesome. Especially if it could be more densely arranged.

It may not be so much about finding

by Michael Jay In reply to Finding your discussions ...

stuff but being able to sift thru all that I have, and others have said.
There used to be a way to look at separate lists of posts such as;

Discussions I Started
Discussions Posted To
My Questions
My Posts to Questions

These were links in my profile that I would use to bring up that content, and these links also existed in other users profiles that I visited enabling me to reference what others had said in these categories.

There was also a section on recent activity, showing all of the posts I was subscribed to whenever they had any new posts added, or someone added me as a contact.

There in the contacts section, it would show who was online of my contacts, always nice to know who was sitting at the table with you, I add contacts for people I think are smart, entertaining or just to keep an eye on them. :)

Those made for a quick and easy way to find what you were looking for.
